Brooking Park Concession Building Reservations
We are now taking reservations for the Brookings Park Concession Building for January, February, and March, 2011 only. Reservations after April 1, 2012 will begin on January 3, 2012.
ACT Preparation Classes at Ed Davis Learning Center

Shack Shakin' Hoedowners Clogging Group to meet at Brooking Park Concession Building
The Shack Shakin' Hoedowners clogging group that was held at the Center of Town Community Center will meet at the Brooking Park Concession Building on Mondays, 6:00 - 8:45 PM. New students will not be accepted at this time.

Scott County Girls Youth Softball League Registration
There are five divisions of the youth softball program: Training for ages 4 - 5; Coach Pitch for ages 5 - 7; Fast Pitch for ages 8 - 10; Fast Pitch for ages 11 - 13; and Slow Pitch for ages 13 - 18.

Adult Softball League Registration
Many different slow pitch leagues are offered during the summer and fall playing seasons: Men's Church, Men's Independent, Co-ed, and the Women's League. All leagues are sanctioned by the Amateur Softball Association. League entry fee includes the A.S.A. sanction fee. The Spring season is ten weeks in length. League registrations are on a first come / first serve basis. Registratrations will be accepted online from January 2 - April 1, 2012. Register now at www.SCGYS.com under adult league. Team registration fee is $325. Season begins April 23, 2012.

Soccer League Registration
Over 600 youth between the ages of 4 – 16 participated in the youth soccer program. This soccer program offers two playing seasons: Spring and Fall.

Home School Gym and Swim Registration
Don’t get cabin fever this winter! Come play at the Pavilion! Children will play organized gym games for an hour and finish up with playtime in the pools. If schools are closed due to inclement weather, the Gym & Swim program will not meet and a make-up day will be scheduled.

Little Jammers Basketball Registration
Little Jammers offers young athletes the chance to jump-start their basketball talents. This is a skills class for 3, 4, and 5 year olds. This class familiarizes the participant with the very basic fundamentals of basketball as it encourages social interaction and group play. Each session is six weeks.

Kids Kitchen Registration
Kids Kitchen is for children ages 8 to 16. The chefs will prepare basic and easy meals that are related to proper nutrition and health, meal planning, kitchen hygiene, food preparation, and kitchen maintenance.

Kickboxing Registration
Kickboxing is a great way to get your heart pumping and your muscles moving. Each class will have a warm up, a cardio session full of self-defense moves and a cool down.

Get Pumped Up! Registration
Pumped up! Is an intense, fun, entire body workout. This 45 minute class of one exercise after another. Exercises such as jumping jacks, lunges, pushups, and squats. Push your body to its limits and burn calories fast!
Registration for the Get Pumped Up! program will be held February 7 - March 7, 2012. Classes will begin March 19, 2012. 12 Class package $60 R / $70 NR , Drop in Rate $7 R / $8 NR. Introduction to Kayaking Registration
Parks and Recreation, in conjunction with Canoe Kentucky, is proud to offer a single night, Introduction to Kayaking class. Participants will become familiarized with some aspects of the sport, learn basic skills, and have a great time! Kayaks and all necessary gear will be provided for class instruction.
Registration for Kayaking will be accepted on the class date. Classes will be held from 7:00 - 8:30 PM at The Pavilion on February 8, Februay 22, March 7, and March 21, 2012. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Registration
In this course, you will be trained to instruct American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety programs by developing your understanding of how to use course materials, how to conduct training sessions, and how to evaluate participants’ progress.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Training Registration
This course will train instructor candidates to teach Lifeguard Training including First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Preventing Disease Transmission, as well as Community Water Safety, and Basic Water Rescue.

Reach or Throw, Don't Go! Registration
Juniors, Cadettes, and Ambassadors will earn a water safety patch. They will learn basic water safety as well as safe ways to help a swimmer in distress. They will learn to properly size a lifejacket and the HELP and Huddle positions. Once they have completed the skills they will have free time to enjoy our water slide and other amenities.
Registration for the Reach or Throw, Don't Go! Junior-Cadette-Ambassador program will be held January 9 - February 3, 2012. Register now at The Pavilion. The fee is $10. January 10 - February 17 Zubatomic
Attention Parents: Kids ages 8-12 can enjoy a class that is high-energy and full of fitness fun. Zumbatomic is packed with specially choreographed routines and the latest music, like hip hop, reggaeton and Cumbia. This class increases focus and self confidence, boost metabolism and improve coordination. Instructor Shar Goldong. Classes meet Tuesdays and Fridays, 5:00 - 5:40 PM. January 19 & 20 Aquatic Facility Operator Training Classes
National Recreation and Park Association's Aquatic Facilities Operator (AFO) training and certification course is a leading-edge program in the industry today. The course teaches you the skills necessary to make your facility safe and efficient.
The certification is specifically designed to meet the needs of those working in public, semi-public, municipal pools, or water park facilities. It is taught in a two-day format with a written test at the conclusion. Those who successfully complete the course and test are issued a national 5-year certification. Class will meet from 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM each day. Instructor is Terri Wilkerson.
January 28 Books and Best Friends
Georgetown - Scott County Parks and Recreation and the Scott County Public Library presents Books and Best Friends at the Ed Davis Learning Center. Children will select a book and read to several well trained dogs. This is an excellent and fun way to get children engaged with reading. Additional program dates are February 25 and March 24, 2012. |
