The purpose of this course is to train instructor candidates to teach Lifeguard Training (including First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Preventing Disease Transmission, Community Water Safety, and Basic Water Rescue). The training in this instructor course prepares instructor candidates by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions, and how to evaluate participants' progress. Must have at least 4 students.
Prerequisites:
- Must be at least 17 years of age.
- Must have Fundamentals of Instructor Training certificate in the last 12 months or Health and Safety Services Instructor authorization (FIT is included with LGI course.).
- Pass the pre-course written examination with a minimum grade of 80% or better (16 correct answers out of 20).
- Successfully perform all of the skills in the life guarding instructor pre-course session, skills include Swimming, Life guarding, First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
